Everything you need to know to get started.
The Safari Photobook is designed to fit into the trip you already run — without adding another complicated process for your team.
ABOUT THE SAFARI PHOTOBOOK
What is a Safari Photobook?
A Safari Photobook is a professionally designed physical photobook created from photographs taken during your guest’s safari. We curate the photographs, design the book, print it and coordinate delivery — turning the guest’s journey into something tangible they can take home and keep.
Who is the Safari Photobook for?
It is designed primarily for tour operators, safari companies and destination management companies who want to give their guests a meaningful physical reminder of their time in Kenya.
What does the guest receive?
Each Safari Photobook is an A4 landscape hardcover book with 22 pages, designed around the guest’s journey and photographs. A typical book holds approximately 60–100 photographs.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
What do we need to do as the tour operator?
Very little. We need the guest and trip details, the itinerary, and coordination with the driver/guide who will be taking and sharing photographs during the journey. We handle the curation, design, printing and delivery
Does the driver-guide need special equipment?
No. The driver-guide can use the equipment they already carry and take photographs naturally throughout the safari. We provide guidance on what we need and how to share the photographs with us.
Does the driver-guide need to take photographs professionally?
No. The idea isn't to turn your driver-guide into a professional photographer. We simply want enough good moments from the journey to tell the story.
Do we have to design the book ourselves?
No. That's our job. We select and organise the photographs, create the layout and prepare the final book for printing.
How do you choose which photographs go into the book?
We curate the photographs based on the journey as a whole — wildlife, landscapes, people, activities and memorable moments. The aim isn't simply to fill pages with photographs. It's to make the book feel like their journey through Kenya.
TIMING & DELIVERY
When should we arrange the photobook?
The earlier, the better. Ideally, we have the trip details and driver-guide information before the journey begins so we can coordinate everything from the start.
Will the book be ready before the guest leaves Kenya?
That's the goal. We plan the production around the guest's departure date so the finished book can be given to them before they leave Kenya. The earlier we receive the required information and photographs, the more comfortably we can plan production and delivery.
What if the guest has already left Kenya?
We can arrange delivery outside Kenya where required. However, if the intention is for the operator to personally present the book to the guest, we recommend planning it as part of the trip from the beginning.
COST
How much does a Safari Photobook cost?
A Safari Photobook costs $50 per book. This includes the design, printing and the conservation contribution associated with the book.
When do we pay?
Payment is made upfront before production begins. Because every book is custom-designed and produced for a specific guest and journey, we begin production once payment has been received.
Can we order more than one book for a trip?
Yes. You can order any number of photobooks that fit your needs - whether for an individual guest, couple, family or group - it depends on how you want to present the experience.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
How does the photobook help promote your company?
Your company is part of the journey that the guest is taking home. When they show the book to friends and family, they're also sharing the experience they had with your company. It's a natural form of word-of-mouth marketing — built around a real experience rather than an advertisement.
How does the conservation part work?
For each Safari Photobook made, we plant five trees at select Kenya forest conservancy land. The idea is simple: the memory of their time in Kenya should leave something positive behind as well.
What happens after the guest receives the book?
The physical book goes home with them — but the experience doesn't have to end there. The book includes a QR code that connects the guest to a digital experience, including updates connected to the conservation initiative.
Is this another operation your team has to manage?
That's exactly what we're trying to avoid. You create the journey. We create the memory. The process is designed to work alongside what your team and driver-guides are already doing.
